Displaying Artist: Angela Swan
Multi-talented artist Angela Swan joins ARTvision for the first time through our Chicago-based artist outreach coordinator Penny Frulla. Angela created “Air” with a love for unusual forms - as well as inspiration from her ailing father.
"I love to find and work with redundant objects,” she says. “It's like a puzzle, trying to find the aesthetic value in its form and repetitiveness. The most critical part of the process was finding the armature to hang it from. This dictated how it would cascade downward. I love the way the tubing glows when lit by a window or spots. The tangled loops and landing on a pedestal added the final visual interest.
“It was only later that I realized I had photographed my father's oxygen tubing snaking throughout the house,” she adds. “He passed away a year ago June."
