Delia Cochran: "Refection and renewal" from Tokyo, Vienna

After a triumphant debut last year with “In the Moment,” Delia Cochran returns to ARTvision with two terrific photos from her travels abroad: “Between Chords” and “Reaching through Tears.” The former, she says, offered her a chance to capture a reflective moment of a street musician in Tokyo.

“As I looked at him I was struck by the relaxed nature of his position, the look on his face and the fact that the noises and activities going on around him were secondary to what appeared to be going on within him,” she says. “It was as though he had everything else on pause as he went inward for the inspiration for what would be next - the time between chords that provides the next inspired strum that would capture all that was being created in this place of refection and renewal.

“‘
Between Chords’ beckons me to go to that place of inspiration where I can leave the noise and distractions behind - in pursuit of expressing more of what is possible,” she adds.

Shot in Vienna, Austria, “
Reaching Through Tears” was reflective of a personal experience she had with the sudden loss of a co-worker. “The image found me in Vienna on a cold rainy day,” she said. “The trip occurred during a time of mourning the transition of a very dear person. As I was walking, I caught a glimpse of this image through a window pane. As I passed I was touched by how this image spoke to me. ‘Have you ever experienced a time where you felt frozen, immobilized, or uncertain how to move forward?’ seemed to be the question it was asking me - and I realized the image was tugging at my heart… and I began to cry.

“Releasing the uncertainty through tears seems to be the catalyst that initiated the removal of the emotional blockage,” she adds. “At first the tears emerged in response to unexpressed loss, grief and fear and, as the release continued, the source of tears sprung from appreciation, gratitude and love. No longer frozen and immobilized, I was reaching through tears toward celebration - a life worth remembering, a life worth living.”

Chords” is offered at $400 and “Tears” is offered at $350. (reserve now)
